Travelling in the Balkans has a special meaning for me because it is where my family roots lie. Before seeing these places, I just had all the stories my grandmother used to tell me and the books I read. Few years before, I read The Bridge on the Drina, a classic for everyone interested in the history of Balkans. All I could do was trying to figure out in my mind how these places looked like. Eventually, I managed to organize a Balkan Tour with my dad. We went to Croatia first, then Bosnia and Serbia.

This time, the trip to the Balkans was a little less organized and a sort of summer getaway. I went to the island of Veli Losinj, in the little town of Nerezine. I used to go there when I was younger with my parents and grandparents. It is not fancy nor big but a quiet fishers town. After few days of rest, I went with my dad to Serbia. We passed through Fruska Gora and then reached Belgrade. We also managed to visit Becej, the town where my grandmother spent many years.
