When I organized this day trip, I could not imagine that few years later I would have actually moved to Switzerland (although not to Bellinzona). As for many cities in this small country, Bellinzona is quite small although it made to become a Unesco site in 2000. It is mainly famous for its three castles: Montebello, Castelgrande and Sasso Corbaro. If you pass by or you are visiting some nearby area, a stop here is worth it!

This is for sure one of the best places in Switzerland for me. I finally managed to organize a weekend getaway in mid-September to explore this area and, more important, see the vineyards and drink the wine. I was based in Montreux and, from there, I took a train to Lutry. From there, a beautiful hike starts and continues for 11 km to St-Saphorin. Along the way, it is possible to try the wine from different producers. In my case, I chose Gaillard, mostly because of the view it is possible to enjoy from their place. At the end of the day it is impossible not to be exhausted but the amazing panorama really pays off!
